Payang Market

Market might not be a place for tourist, but, I think that's not the
case with Pasar besar Kedai Payang... or for short:

Pasar Payang

This is the place where KT residents buy their groceries [is it right?]
like veges, fruits, seafood, local delicacies, etc...
Batik, souvenirs, T-shirts, well, things tourist buy, are also sell here.

Traditional delicacies
Green and yellow mangoes

Salak jeruk, 1 for RM5
Rambutan and buah salak (salacca zalacca)
I like this stall's cendol... the only difference, I drink cendol...
without the cendol... [senang cakap: Santan + Gula Melaka... No cendol]

Durians, anyone?
The new Bazaar Warisan
These are Bot Penambang, the transport that I used to go to
Kuala Terengganu city... 15 minutes crossing the River Terengganu
Up close and personal... RM1 per trip...

Little Chinatown by the Sea

I just wanted to show you this wonderful place
located in the city of Kuala Terengganu:

KAMPUNG CINA
(a.k.a. Little Chinatown)

唐 人 坡

Teng Lang Po

Most of the building in Kg. Cina are in neo-classical design style since they were built, if I'm not mistaken, from the 1930s.

The main gate of Kg. Cina (built in 98)
The shop houses
(the left in neo-classical syle and the right in utilitarian style)
This in one example of art deco building
(Art Deco is different from neo-classical style)

The main street (perhaps the ONLY street)
The ornate neo-classical design in the building's facade
This is an example of building in utilitarian style
(this may be built earlier)

Colourful buildings
I wonder what they meant...

Kampung Cina or fondly known as Little Chinatown by tourists is not only limited to beautiful architectures. It also has a number of attractions, like the Low Tiey Well, which was before this the water source of Kuala Terengganu citizens. As Kg. Cina is the primary Chinese settlement in the city, one cannot miss the presence of Ho Ann Kiong, the beautiful Chinese temple that was, unfortunately razed by fire. Restorations are being done as of now.

I love this place because of the wonderful architectures and the serenity [you won’t have that serenity in the evening rush, that’s for sure]. Kampung Cina is still an area of profound and visible Chinese heritage, and many of the shops are still being run by the descendents of the original owners. One important thing is this place is still and always been the living quarter of the Chinese, who are of mainly of Hokkien or Hakka ancestries.

Kg. Cina is an integral part of the city and it is the place
where most of Terengganuese-Chinese live, play, and work.
Most important, it is also a part of the Terengganuese history that
should not be forgotten.

OK... Let's face it...

The kick-off of the greatest tournament
on the entire planet is going to be whistled soon

FIFA World Cup

Everybody loves it. It comes only once every four years

Still, for the sake of clarification...

Me + Football = ×_×
[since my hand-eye coordination is far from being perfectly coordinated]

Nevertheless, I may be compelled to watch it... Gyeheheh...

Fly Away

Hi again.

After six months here, it takes just another 14 hours before I leave this city and go back to where I came from. I will miss this city. Still, I will be here for the next semester. My hometown? I will only be there for 3 weeks and I want to make full use of those weeks. I want to be with my family. I want to get out and see back the place I'd left behind. I want to eat home-cooked food. I want to walk at the beach behind my home. I want to ride on my bicycle. I want to be free [still need to do homeworks though]. I wonder what have changed there?

Maybe, not so much.

Wow, I really need to pack my stuff... By the way, I bought that shirt that says:

I Heart Kota Kinabalu

Till the next post [if this is my last post, then, it will take weeks for the next one...]

I Heart Kota Kinabalu

I♥KK

It’s holiday and I’m still here, the place where it seems that the morning sun may had soaked up the moisture and let it all drain by the evening, every 24 hours. It’s KK, day five after the holiday, and for days, I have been eating the yellow DIY, unhealthy noodle. I can eat outside, but let’s just wait for that.

Maybe, I can still force myself to wait for those awesomely delicious pizza, or burger, and the most important, my mom’s own creation that can fill up my little stomach or what-so-ever. The thing now, I am on my computer each time my eyes are wide open, like now, and it is 10.30 pm now [by the time I write this].

I just can’t wait to go back home. Yes, my port of origin is calling me. The aeroplane will take me there, soon, later. I just envy my friends who are at home right now. Dipping their hands into the plastic thingy and chewing on the potato chips while watching the primetime shows presented by the magical box with their families, all under one roof - sigh here, quite happy here (for some reasons unknown).

Still, when I go home, I will miss KK. It’s one part of me now.

One more thing

I think I will be flu-ey by tomorrow
