I'm a Fiver!

Yawper guys!

My holiday is coming to an end, thus, I shall begin my TESL programme’s Part 5! Wheee! Semester 5 is really special since… errr… since I’ve eight courses. Eight courses, six of them with three credit hours. I can see the number of coursework that I will get.

Anyway, the courses are:

EDU520 – Teaching English through Drama
When I was in IPG, we IPG-ians need to perform a theatre, but I don’t think we’ll be doing it for this course. I think, just like the name, we’ll be learning on how to teach English through drama… duhhhh. Haha. It’s gonna be fun, I hope!

EDU540 – Introduction to Research Method
As far as I know… I don’t actually know anything about this. Haha, but somehow it’s related to our [near-]future academic exercise, where we will be researching on... stuff.

TSL547 – Applied Sociolinguistics
I’m also not sure about Sociolinguistics but I know that it involves how the language shapes/affects the society and vice versa. Let’s see how this goes.

TSL591 – Methodology in Teaching Reading
TSL593 – Methodology in Teaching Grammar
These two subjects deal with the way teach the language skills to our students. We will also have microteaching where we’ll teach our fellow classmates [though they’ll be acting as secondary students. haha].

TSL620 – Creative Writing
This is what I’ve been dreaming for! Haha~ Creative Writing! We need to create prose, narratives, poems, and whatever stories we want to. Booyeah!

HKB221 – Literature Appreciation 2
This is the second part of my co-curricular course. We need to create three poems [only in Malay actually], publish an anthology, and perform live during the Cultural Night.

BJP501 – Japanese Language 3
The third and final course for Jap! Huzzah! I can’t wait for this class! My dream: the greatest ever Japanese Language film project! Heheh~

Here’s the timetable for my group, Group B. As you can see, during certain days, there are looooonnnnggg gaps between the two classes, and conversely, during another particular day, there'll be four different subjects. What kind of sorcery is this?!

Whoop whoop! Cheers to Part 5!

All of us keep things inside, I mean, emotionally, not literally. Anyway, we don’t normally tell those secrets to anyone else, out of fear, out of reluctance. We are expected to be strong and independent. People said that once we've done a mistake, we will know how to avoid it.

Things, however, take a lot of different course. There will come a moment that affects us so deeply that it will be ingrained in our minds. It haunts us and we might need help, we need to vent it out, lest it will fester and become a great burden, but then again, many of us are so afraid of telling others what lies inside our hearts. We are afraid that no one wants to listen to us or perhaps that they’d leave after they've known our secrets.

We are so fearful of being seen as damaged, we think that what we feel is fatuous and unattainable, that we are actually different. No one will ever look at us the same again. Other people will never feel the same. They don’t know. Keeping things is easier than facing the perceptions of other people.

Infinity is an Ocean

Infinity is an ocean
without a horizon
without a floor
I am drowned
and I only see

The depth is
a scary place
void of colours
I long for sunshine
but time seems
to have stopped
working and
only night functions

Infinity is forever
I reach the cold
my skin peels off
my blood merges
with the saltwater
and my breathing
ceases to exist
I want to swim
Swim I really try
but the sink
is easier

Humans are so dependent on one thing: language. Language is made of letters that form words and a string of words turn into sentences, and of course that’s an obvious thing.

How do I feel about words?

Words are made up of different dimensions, in which they can be divided into two – benign and lethal. Words move people, words can be equated to water. Water nourishes the earth, giving joy to its inhabitants. In the other end of the spectrum, water can demolish people and places without mercy.

Those are two things that our words do right?

We take our ability to use language for granted. If words are sacred, there are too many deceitful things that we say all the time, but then again, who are we? We are mere humans, and sometimes, we lack the impulse to say “stop, I don’t want to hurt people.”

Words are, so many people said, powerful. They can be swords and arrows aimed to hurt others. Rudyard Kipling said that, ‘words are, of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind.” Why intoxicate people with displeasure then? The words we used should be changed to a medicine, a salve that can cover wounds and treat any awful situations. Words should give us happiness, knowledge.

You don’t need a large thesaurus to start giving out kind words to other people. The best things are said in a simple manner.

Butterfly Heart

I can write my heart
into a butterfly
I can

You see
the greatest journey of all
is undertaken by the
monarch butterfly
it flies across the longitudes
in search for that one place
a journey so long
for a creature so small

A heart in a way
is like a butterfly
it waits upon so many hours
until it has found another one
to hold on to
but not every time
it will find the one
it wants
and even if it finds
time and space
will always
come in-between

You see
in my heart
you may be mine forever
but in your heart
I’ll even fade from your past

I wish my feelings
have a butterfly-length
